In a monumental decision for the state of Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially declared Jagdish Devda as the new Deputy Chief Minister. This pivotal announcement came during the legislative party meeting held in Bhopal today, graced by prominent figures including Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, OBC Morcha head K Laxman, and secretary Asha Lakra, acting as central observers.
Jagdish Devda’s Political Journey
Jagdish Devda, a seasoned politician, emerged victorious in the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections, securing the Malhargarh constituency by a substantial margin of 59,024 votes. This triumph marked his fourth consecutive win, previously clinching victories in 2008, 2013, and 2018 from the same constituency. Notably, Devda also represented the Suwasara constituency in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly in 1990, 1993, and 2003, showcasing a longstanding commitment to public service.
The Bharatiya Janata Party’s strong victory in the Madhya Pradesh elections solidified its hold on power, securing 163 seats and thwarting the opposition’s attempts, as the Congress managed to secure only 66 seats. This electoral outcome reaffirms the BJP’s dominant position in the state’s political landscape.
The appointment of Jagdish Devda as Deputy Chief Minister and Mohan Yadav as the Chief Minister signifies a new chapter in Madhya Pradesh’s governance. Their collective experience and dedication to public service are poised to steer the state toward progress and development.
